Tiffany's Top Summer 2012 Reads

My number 3 top pick of the summer would have to be Darkness Devours by Keri Arthur. When the first book of this series came out, let's just say it didn't quite live up to fans' expectations, mine included. Then again, coming behind a great, truly unique, series'.....those are some very hard shoes to fill. That being said, when I picked up Darkness Devours, all my faith in Arthur came back online, and she made remember just what a terrific author she truly is.

Number 2, that would be Consumed by Rebecca Zanetti, another true great. And, hello, I think the title itself says it all! Conn and Moira's tale was a highly anticipated one, and to say Zanetti didn't disappoint would be the biggest understatement of the year. Of all the mates thus far, Moira's is by far my favorite. Determined to not allow fate decide who she is, or who she'll be with, she takes her destiny into her own hands, and gives Conn a run for his money along the way. One of the things I truly loved about this book? The fact that theirs was a love that built over time, not just a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am. That, and Moira being a kick-ass heroine in her own right.

***Drum-roll please*** Finally, the best for last, Shadow Walker by the great, and truly missed, L. A. Banks. Shadow Walker was to be the first book in a spin off series following the terrific Neteru series', featuring the children of the entire gang. The setting was the aftermath of the apocalypse, where a school has been set up to train all of the remaining guardian children. The original Guardians of Light, as well as the Neteru couple itself, are also there stirring things up. And Sarah Rivera, tho seemingly timid at first, towards the end, proves just how much like her father she truly is, fangs and all. All of the children to up traits from their parents' as well; half-Valkyrie/half-vamp, half-angel/half-vamp, a seer possibly even more powerful than her mother, so on and so forth. This first book proved to be a fantastic beginning to what seemed to be the end. Sadly, it was not meant to be, for Mrs. Banks time was cut short this past year on August 2, 2011. She will forever be missed by fans everywhere, but she will forever be immortalized in the pages of her books.

Charity's Top Summer Reads 2012

Rough Surrender-Cari Silverwood
Historical Romance Erotica
This makes my list because it was a new view for me. I generally stay away from Historical reads, but this one was fresh, it grabbed my attention, and it had some very scorching scenes. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Erotic writings, a little on rougher side.

I would also like to suggest the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy. I am sure these have already been nominated, but just in case they weren't I wanted to throw them out there. Although they aren't the most well written books, they definitely aren't bad for the genre. Obviously there is a lot of hype and publicity surrounding them and that is what makes these books worthy of a Top Summer read spot, in my opinion. They introduced many more readers to the Erotic genre. They are making the discussion of sex more open for women to talk about, and they have made some women more comfortable about talking about their desires. I'm sure these books not only helped the Erotic genre, but they also helped a lot of marriages.

Karia's Top Summer 2012 Reads

Hi all...I counted and I read 37 books this summer (not including re-reads)...and now to choose my top three favourites:

Breathe by Kristen Ashley: This book had it all. The sweet girl longing for someone she can't have...The bad boy who wants to be good...A great little mystery twisting here and there through the most romantic and loving romance.

Defying the Odds by Kele Moon (and the second in the series Star Crossed I finished just this morning): What a great fight book! I love boxing, UFC, MMA and this book gave us everything. The fighters are awesome with real life situations and the women are not your "types". I really enjoyed Clay and Melody, but the story was so much more bringing in Clay's fight partner Wyatt and Wyatt's twin Jules. The full meal deal!

12 Rounds by Lauren Hammond: Another fight book, but wow! Ms Hammond surprised me. At first I wasn't too sure there was a way to turn Sean into a great hero, but slow and deliberately, Seany grew on me and he was just too sweet and rough and raw not to fall for...so I did! I cannot wait for 13Rounds!

I know I reviewed Breathe on the website, but it is so good that I just had to make it my number one...the other two books are certainly authors everyone should try...And if you love the fight books I would also recommend Saving Cinderella (by Gina L Maxwell), Causing Havoc and Back in Black (both by Lori Foster). Honourable mention goes out to Christie Craig and her Divorced Series...seriously fun, great reads! Enjoy!
