Sum It Up! This series, which was initially planned to have six novels, has grown and more characters have revealed themselves to need books of their own!

In order to protect a father he does not respect, in Lady Luck, we learned that good cop Chace Keaton went bad, sacrificing his career and his future. But when the local police department's secrets are revealed and the wife he's forced to marry is murdered, Chace finds himself the town of Carnal's hero. Knowing how deep in the mud he was forced to sink, Chace feels he'll never get clean. The quiet, content future he envisioned of the love a good woman with whom he could build a family was now beyond his reach. The only thing he can do is find his wife's murderer.
But he isn't the only one looking.
While searching for new leads, he runs into Faye Goodknight, the town's quiet, shy, pretty librarian. Chace has long since had his eye on what could possibly be the town's last remaining virgin but he has also long since given up hope he could make her his. Faye is pure and clean and Chace refuses to dirty her with his sordid past.
Pure and clean Faye may be, but when the shy librarian is forced to go head to head with the man who she's had a crush on since he hit her hometown, Chace finds Faye is full of surprises. And he doesn't know what to do with her. (www.kristenashley.net)
Review:
Kristen Ashley's The Colorado Mountain Series takes place in two fictional Colorado towns, Gnaw Bone and Carnal. This series features connected men on their rocky road to second chances. In book one, The Gamble, we meet Max and Nina, then Tate and Laurie in Sweet Dreams, followed by Ty and Lexi in Lady Luck…released this past week, we have Breathe featuring Chace and Faye. This series, which was initially planned to have six novels, has grown and more characters have revealed themselves to need books of their own! Coming up will be Graham and February, plus the two new additional books (Deke Hightower and Jacob Decker) and the final book featuring my man Wood and his estranged wife Maggie.
Series history lesson done…let's talk Breathe!!!
Slowing myself to catch my breath, I have been gushing to anyone and everyone that will listen about my love for all things Kristen Ashley. While her men are generally older, they are hawt, sexy and dominant. In addition, they are men who have learned from their mistakes and are willing to make amends for the damage their youth has left in their wake. Chace is no stranger to a shit storm. His life could be described as one huge cluster----mess…but he has manned up, put up and shut up for far too long. In Lady Luck, we learn some of the dark past that Chace has had to endure and some of the unsavoring things he has had to live with…notably Misty. I for one was glad when that piece of work was removed from the situation. But, Chace is still haunted by the knowledge that his sham wife was murdered on his watch. Guilt, shame and lost opportunities all combine to one brooding black cloud that is Det. Chace Keaton.
Enter Faye…or shall I say, Chace entered Faye-- Faye's life that is some 13 years earlier. From the moment Chace hit town, Faye had eyes for no other man, even her former hottest baddest crush Tate! Since Faye was 16 years old, she has been in love with Chace. All through his marriage, she pined for him and when Misty was killed, Faye knew it was her turn to be with Chace. But when Faye tries to be kind and extend her olive branch towards him…Chace snaps her like a twig. Making matters worse, Chace is constantly giving Faye mixed messages and for a 29 yr old virgin (yup, laughed at that one too), she has no idea how to handle Chace.
Faye seeks the help of her new chick-pack, but ends up with Krystal and Twyla…the fact that the butch lesbian gives the best dating advice had me laughing so loud the other passengers on the plane thought I was a nut! I loved reading Faye and Chace moving forward with their love, with their passion and with their future. The wholesome oneness was so beautiful, it had me sighing in my seat. So with all that good lovin', family approval and friendly support, you know really bad stuff was just lurking. And man, was I right! I was on the edge of my seat for the last 100 pages or so. But like Faye, I was Holding Out For a HERO and Chace did not disappoint…and neither did Tate, Max, Sterling, Ty, Deck, Deke, Silas, Frank, Cap…I cried so hard I had to stop reading and just listen to Ella sing it to me…Fresh from the fight, Chace and Faye's HEA…LOVED IT! Enjoy!
