Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she’s meant to be with—and the truth about what her emerging powers mean.  But she’s about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever…and not always for the better.

Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together.  Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it’s not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, someone lives and someone dies. As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different—and more astonishing—than she ever imagined.

TAKEN AT DUSK is by far the best in a great series. Full of magic, romance, and plenty of delight, CC Hunter gives readers a fabulous novel. Kylie is not your typical teen. As a matter of fact, she is not even your typical non-typical. Kylie is special; not only in her abilities that landed her at Shadow Falls Camp, but also in personality. Kylie is that type of character that is so sweet you just want her to do something bad every once in a while (but in a good rooting for her way)! Readers will really enjoy the love triangle. Derek and Lucas are two completely different, yet strikingly similar males. Kylie's heart is split in two, and more romance is defiantly in the works.

TAKEN AT DUSK's plot is fast. Much faster than that of previous novels. Readers will not want to miss a second of Kylie's latest Shadow Falls adventure. I love how CC Hunter seems to blend all the favorites together: vamps, weres, witches, faeries, and amazing ghost stories.

However, this series seems to be very focused on sex. Not necessarily the act itself, but it is as if Kylie and her friends are teenage boys. They think about and talk about it constantly. This is not a major hoot changer, but it can get very irritating, causing readers to skip portions of the book.

Overall, TAKEN AT DUSK is well worth the read for YA fans. It may remind many of Rachel Hawkins' HEX HALL in all the best possible ways. I speak for many when I say, if you have not read this series, do it now, and if you have, be on the lookout for the next installment WHISPERS AT MOONRISE.
