Review -
Out Of Control by Alexandra Ivy
Alexandra Ivy is at again with a brand new series, Sentinels.  Though I have yet to have the pleasure of reading her work, I am more than happy to say I now have a new author to love!!
Ivy actually gave her main character a chance to get to know the heroine before he fell madly in love with her.  And the two turn out to be a match made in Valhalla, which is where all high bloods, or freaks, eventually end up.  You find any vampires here, but you will meet plenty of people with special abilities, some not even knowing they possess them. People like Angela Locke.

Anglea Locke has always been obsessed with science, so much so that most of her has pretty passed her by with her unawares. One thing, or person, she most definitely notices is Dr Nikolo Bartrev. The meet due to circumstance, supposedly, and for her its lust at first site, for him, much more. When Nikolo first meets Angela there is nothing more important than his mission. After meeting and getting to know her he just may change his objective.

Sentinels looks to be a promising and quite unique new series. I will definitely be staying tuned for the official book 1.
Ties That Bind by Nina Bangs

Nonstop action from one page to the next, Nina Bangs will keep fans guessing what will hapoen next. And let's face it, not many authors can do that.

When Cassie agrees to cover for her friend at her job for a few hours, she didn't realise those hours would change her life for all eternity. Whether for the good or bad remain to be seen when she begins to fall in love with the vampire that saved her life. Especially when just looking into his eyes could bring about her death.

This short is definitely not for the sqeaumish, but a def must read for true vampire lovers.  Only thing is that it wasn't made clear whether or not it was, or will be, a part of a series.

In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall
Fans of the Immortal Guardians series have been continuously wondering where it is that our beloved Richart sneeks off to.  Who is this mystery, human, woman that seems to occupies his mind at all times.  Well, wonder no longer!
Richart's story takes place before and during the previous books in the series.  While strolling along one night, Richart comes across three vampires accosting a young woman in a dark alley he of course rescues her.  What he doesn't expect in return is the kiss she rewards him with afterwards, or more importantly, the feelings the kiss sparks within him.  Jenna, being a single Mom, knows how tough dating can truly be.  Especially trying to fit it into a busy schedule.  So when Richart only has certain times he can see her, like at night and only at her place, its perfectly understandable....or is it.  Is there something else going on that he is trying to keep from her?
Their tale is one that is short sweet and straight to the point, and still full of action and romance and quite a few laughs in between.  And you will NEVER guess who she ends up having ties to in the end.

High Stakes by Hannah Jayne
Two words, big disappointment.  This short is the only thing keeping this anthology from getting 5 Hoots.

When first starting this one, it seems more of a comic relief with more than a few laughs. Going further in it feels as though the readers intelligence is being insulted.  Kinda like when you watch a soap opera.  For instance, if a vampire is portraid like the good ol fashioned stronger than human variety that burns up in the sunlight, if she gets into a catfight with a human, due to LOSING CONTROL, wouldn't said human be either dinner or end up with more than a few broken bones?

Fans of the Underworld Detection Agency may like to see Nina on her own minus the rest of the crew, if they can look past the inconsistencies. Lets just say this author is not a very good mix with this group of authors. Maybe this review would have been different had she been lined up with writers such as Kerrilyn Sparks and MaryJanice Davison.  Having not read this series yet, I don't think I will venture towards it any time soon. From the covers they seem kick ass.  After reading this, they seem more comedy central.
