Sum It Up!
Holy Alien Babies everywhere! WTF! I—what—I can’t—I loved—I cried, like actual tears—this cannot happen!

No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it. (Goodreads)
Review:
Holy Alien Babies everywhere! WTF! I—what—I can’t—I loved—I cried, like actual tears—this cannot happen! Okay, so I’m going to take some breaths and you should too. Deep—in through the nose, and out the mouth kind of crap. Okay, better? ME Either!
So, I love Daemon and his wit, and charm, and well, his everything. I mean, come one people he is so fabulous. But he’s an alien—so what! Katy, love her and we get a good dose of how much she and Daemon care about each other in Opal. But there are so many surprises, I don’t even know where to begin . . . we shall try.
Will, the dirt-bag who made Daemon heal him is back. But, I kind of expected this. However, I didn’t expect him to nearly kill Katy in return! YES—but all is good and after their close call with death, Daemon and Katy take their relationship to the next level. The moment is sweet and perfectly written. Well done Armentrout. But someone else is back—Blake! Yep, scum of the freaking earth is back and up to his old tricks. In order for Katy and Daemon to remain under the radar, they have to help Blake bust his friend Chris out of the DOD. Easy—never!
Dee and Katy begin to mend their relationship and it’s about darn time. Better yet, Katy is able to get through to Dawson—but with a price. She and Daemon make a deal to help Dawson get Bethany back, and since Blake claims to know where they are, and how to break them out, the stakes continue to rise.

The last sentence in Opal’s blurb, “Together we’re stronger... and they know It,” continues to haunt me. I can’t give the ending away, and I’ve read other posts stating that Opal is the least favorite book in the series. I have to disagree. Opal ends in one hell of a cliffhanger, but each book gains more respect and awe than the last. I love and hated this book—but only because I have to wait until June 2013 to find out what happens next. It’s reported that there are two more books to be released. Origin in June and the last book is TBA. I have faith that Armentrout will end the series with a happily ever after. That’s the only thing keeping me from breaking down into hysterics right about now. So, read Opal and suck it up like the rest of us until Origin comes out in June.
