Sum It Up!Kitty’s character is fun to read about.
Kitty has been tapped as the
keynote speaker for the First International Conference on Paranatural Studies,
taking place in London. The conference brings together scientists, activists,
protestors, and supernatural beings from all over the world—and Kitty, Ben, and
Cormac are right in the middle of it.
Master vampires from dozens of
cities have also gathered in London for a conference of their own. With the help
of the Master of London, Kitty gets more of a glimpse into the Long Game—a power
struggle among vampires that has been going on for centuries—than she ever has
before. In her search for answers, Kitty has the help of some old allies, and
meets some new ones, such as Caleb, the alpha werewolf of the British Isles. The
conference has also attracted some old enemies, who’ve set their sights on her
and her friends.
All the world’s a stage, and
Kitty’s just stepped into the spotlight. (Goodreads)
Review:
The book opens with a play list
to the book; the reader will likely enjoy the suggestions! Kitty, the main
character, will be introduced to the reader right away. Her humorous, intense
ways may take some adjustment, but she is easy to like. She has to be one of the
key speakers at the First International Conference on Paranormal Studies. When
Kitty arrives, she gets the chance to get to know the vampire ways a little
better as they have a conference going on at the same time. What she sees isn’t
what she expected; there is a power struggle among the vampires that has the
potential to be dangerous. Kitty must investigate.
Kitty’s character is fun to read
about. It feels as if she is in constant motion, always doing something. She is
naturally inquisitive, charismatic, and intelligent. Ben, her partner, matches
her perfectly. He is sweet, handsome, and sincere. He provides some of the comic
relief in the novel. The other characters are really fun to get to know. There
is always such a variety in Carrie Vaughn books. The plot is very fast-paced.
The reader will learn so much more about the vampire world that Carrie Vaughn
created; each fact better than the next. The author spent a lot of time laying
down the detail and plot; the reader will find this book impossible to put down.
Kitty Seals the
Show is
recommended to adult readers.
