Soldier. Hero. Ladies’ Man. He’s the one who broke her heart...

Career soldier Jake “The Snake” Sommers has made a few mistakes in his life, but none so terrible as forsaking the only woman he’s ever loved. But he’s finally conquered his inner demon, the one that thirsted only for blood. So, now he’s back. And he’s not leaving without Michelle. Unfortunately, her enemy has other plans. Plans to see her dead.

Mother. Warrior. Lover. She’s the one he left behind...

Michelle Carter has never forgiven Jake for abandoning her all those years ago. Now he’s suddenly back, after she’s finally begun to make a life for herself. But her safe, orderly world is about be blown apart. With a psychotic Las Vegas mobster gunning for her, she has no choice but to turn to Jake. Only there’s more at stake than her life. As they all head for a showdown, something that was never meant to be revealed is suddenly thrown into the light. And with a secret this hot, there’s bound to be an explosion. (Goodreads)

I really hate to give spoilers, but my personal issues made me want to rate parts this book a 2, but the overall story was a solid 4 hoots...Wait until the book comes out, read it, and then comment on the review and we can discuss...
Now that that is settled, I loved Jake. The emotionally wounded soldier is one of my all-time favourite heroes. I love when he opens up and shares his story and the heroine gains a piece of him that he has shared with no one. That said, Jake is just that kind of hero. He is strong, handsome, worthy and totally messed up emotionally...or at least he was some four years. On the heels of a major event, Jake lashed out at Michelle and threw her out of his life. While he was trying to protect her from the savage beast he had become, he destroyed her heart and soul.
Learning from his mistakes, Jake returns to Michelle and to his former commander, Frank Knight. Determined to make amends for how he hurt Michelle, Jake slowly woes her, charms her and finally, finally he is honest with her. Michelle's heart finally begins to beat again when she listens to Jake recount his side of the story. His pain, his doubts, his struggle to remain human...all together, Michelle (and me for that matter) grew weak in the knees. Michelle showed her emotion by finally being intimate with the one man she ever loved. This moment broke my heart...their longing and their passion was tangible right through the pages.
I am really looking forward to more in this series...I hope that Billy is up next, followed by Angel! Enjoy!

  1. I've only read book 1 and although I wasn't crazy about it, it gave me enough juice to move forward with the series.

  2. You know... the first book was not as good as the second and this third is even better. Jake was a great character and he seemed to really jump out for me...much like Frank!

They are very convincing and can definitely work. Still,
the posts are very quick for starters. May just you please
prolong them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.

  6. The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot
drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
