Sum It Up! Even if you have never read YA, or you don’t like dystopian novels, or vampires, there is no way that you can read this book without liking it!

Review:

The biggest trend for the past couple years has been vampires (especially in Young Adult Fiction). But what has happened to the scary vampire, the one that was imagined by Stephen King, and Bram Stoker? Well, Julie Kagawa has found them! The vampires in The Immortal Rules are dangerous, intimidating, and slightly impossible to like. Then there are the strange evolutions of vampires called Rabids which have no recollection of humanity and only want to feed. Slightly reminiscent of zombies, they can contaminate the person they are feeding on with a single bite; if that person is lucky enough to not die right away they have a large chance of eventually turning.

One of the greatest things I enjoyed about this book was the fact that we get a clear picture of who the main character is, Allie, in the beginning of the book. Then we see her transformation to becoming a vampire and how she has to deal with the changes. Allie is not the same person from the beginning of the book until the end, but she grows in great ways that are necessary for the movement of the novel.

Julie Kagawa does a great job of drawing in her readers and creating a world that they want to inhabit (at least temporarily in this case). There was so much hype involved with this book, because of the success of her other YA series, that is was almost difficult to start the book. The idea of how great it would be was strong in my mind. Not only didThe Immortal Rules meet my expectations, it surpassed them!

Even if you have never read YA, or you don’t like dystopian novels, or vampires, there is no way that you can read this book without liking it! The only drawback was that it is a long book (485 pages for the HC), but that almost didn’t seem long enough in the end.
