Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle’s body bears the telltale marks of a comarré—a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility. When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into the mortal world…and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has ever seen will threaten to reign. (Goodreads)

Kristen Painter introduces readers to a world unlike any other on the shelves. BLOOD RIGHTS is vastly original and full of unexpected surprises. Her characters are vivid and full of life; they walk directly off the page as you read. Chrysabelle may be hard for readers to get to know at first, but as the book and series continues, she will become a fast favorite. Many, like myself, will fall in love with Mal quickly. A tortured hero like most other urban fantasy books, Mal is something different. I cannot describe his character accurately because there are so many different dimensions to him. Painter does not skimp on the side characters either. Doc, Fi, Dominic, Tatiana, and all others are easy to love/ hate/ or love and hate.

Painter's world of comarré, vampires, shifters, and fae is one of the most refreshingly original stories I have read in a while. As a huge fan of all things otherworldly, it is hard to find a book that involves a character or event I have not read about before, but Painter does it. With her idea of the comarré and their rules and traditions, along with her new creatures such as the fae, Painter will not be matched for years to come. Those who enjoy the supernatural, a little romance, and plenty of action need to pick up all available books in the House of Comarré series today!
