Sum It Up! Jennifer Estep became one my favorite authors

Against her better judgment, Gin is coerced into attending a high society gala with the rest of Ashland's elite underworld. On display: the priceless art collection of her deceased nemesis, Mab Monroe, and an excess of crime boss swagger. While not comfortable in her fancy attire, Gin gets vastly more interested in the evening’s events when a group of thieves bursts in and tries to seize the valuable, dangerous gems. Facing a Die Hard -esque scenario in which she must free hostage partygoers while herself trapped in the museum, things get a little bit messy when the bloodshed begins. Let's just say that Gin should have chosen the red gown… (Amazon)

Jennifer Estep became one my favorite authors with the first Elementals book, and I have not yet been disappointed! Gin Blanco is the kind of character you love to read about when you are looking to escape into a good time. She is spunky, witty, and full of snark. Who doesn't love to fantasize about being an assassin from time to time? As always, the supporting crew is worthy of Gin in every way. While readers will not see as much of our favorite gang, they are still around and ready to back up Gin in any way they can.

In a way, Estep reminds me of the great Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Avengers) in that you never know what she will do. Some books you go through thinking, well this is exciting but they won't really die so I wont worry. Not with Estep! Readers will chew their nails to the quick flipping pages to see who Jennifer Estep will keep around and who must "go home".

Each book is just as creative and plot worthy as the one before it. While these books on build upon each other in small ways, it is still needed and recommended to read each book in order. Gin and Owen are still on the rocks after the ex-fiance debacle, but Gin still has hope so we should too. Right?

Fortunately, readers do not have to wait long for HEART OF VENOM because it comes out on August 27! (Have you seen the cover? It is fantastic!!) This time we will get more information into the mysterious past of Sophia. It will be an interesting and bumpy ride!
