Sum It Up! Loved this story!

One night, Callum is driven into the woods by instinct, an instinct to protect... what, he does not know. Until he, in the form of wolf, meets a young, human child who he is instantly drawn to in a fierce way he doesn't quite understand.

But in the end, she protects him. Then he finds this human child is his destined mate.

Sonia Arlington has lived a lonely life. She has certain abilities that make her strange and she has a rare disease that, if untreated, could kill her. Her mother and father are assassinated but before, her father makes her vow that she will never let others discover her abilities. This forces Sonia to stay distant from others, no family, no close friends and always guarding against exposure.

Then the intelligence leaks that Sonia is Callum's human mate. He is now King of the Werewolves and therefore she becomes targeted by the wolves who have aligned with other immortals to enslave the human race. Callum has war on his hands and is forced to claim his mate and quickly integrate Sonia into a world that is strange and frightening to her.

As Sonia attempts to adjust, not entirely successfully, Callum attempts to cope with the knowledge that his mate is mortal. He will have her beauty and gentleness only the length of a mortal life and as werewolves only have one mate their entire lives, their union for him is unbearably bitter as well as unbelievably sweet.

Then he finds that due to her illness, her human life will be even shorter and he is forced to endure the increased bitter while doing everything he can to make Sonia's short life incredibly sweet. (Goodreads)

Review:
Loved this story! I had some reservations since I really did not like Leah and Lucien as much as I wanted...but Callum and Sonia were great. Callum, the nearly 400yr old werewolf, proved himself a worthy mate for Sonia back when she was only a child. For her part, Sonia, being only human, defended her puppy and then took him home and cared for him. Despite the 31 years of separation, Sonia dreamed of both her puppy and Callum. Sonia's destiny was to be the mate to the king of wolves.

Sadly, to make Callum a king, his father Mac had to die. After reeling for five years, the newly crowned king finally is prepared to claim his mate. Unfortunately, fate and others have deemed it to slow and they intervene to expedite Callum and Sonia's meeting. Callum is a sieze'm kind of guy while Sonia is a charm her kind of girl. However...Callum's idea of wooing and Sonia's expectations are very far apart. Add to it, Ryon, Callum's cousin who is very taken with Sonia and the mix is some good marking and jealousy.

But the love triangle soon settles into a palpable love story. Why so? Well, this story had one element that I normally hate, but in this case I found endearing. The couple DO NOT talk. Like, at all! They merely go about life and tear up the sheets at night. Now this would be fine, if both parties were into it, but sadly, Sonia's heart began to break, then shatter, then re-form in wretched jagged edged pieces. My heart ached along with her! I was so happy when finally; Callum woke the heck up and began to be the "man" that Sonia needed. Loved them!

I cannot express enough how much I love the writing of Kristen Ashley and this book is only a glimpse. If your thing is PNR, then pick up this series. If you are into RS or romantica or CR...she has a series for you too! Also, shout out to my girl Kit for landing a deal with Grand Central Publishing. Readers of print will now be able to enjoy her Colorado Men series and much more in 2013! Enjoy!
