Sum It Up! Taylor’s writing is pure exhilaration from beginning to end.
Once upon a time, an angel and a
devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living – one without
massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or
bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers’ arms to take their turn in
the killing and dying.
Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon’s secret temple and dreamed of a world that was a like a jewel-box without a jewel – a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness.
This was not that world. (Goodreads)

Review:
Days of Blood and
Starlight is the
second book in the Daughter of Smoke and
Bone series by Lanini Taylor. Taylor’s writing is pure exhilaration from
beginning to end. The imagination is extraordinary however leaves you with the
ability to ‘believe’ well after you’ve finished the story.
When Daughter of Smoke and Bone ended, I was
a bit heartbroken, though it isn’t until the end of Days of Blood and Starlight that I began
to feel the buds of hope between Karou and Akiva. Not to discourage you from
reading the book in its entirety because without the start you won’t understand
the end.
In the beginning you see Karou
still naïve but by the end, she grows into the leader she and her people need
her to be. But the journey to get there is filled with sacrifices of blood and
will-power to survive the war in order to create a world where demons and angels
can live amongst themselves peacefully.
So many lives are lost and
regained and this book only leaves us knowing more will end, but hopefully, will
bring us an ending that was worth fighting for.
What I want to know is what happened to Brimstone and Zuzanna. From book 1 wasn't their shop infiltrated or something? Nevertheless, I NEED this book NOW!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I really cannot wait for the next and last book to come out! There has to be a HEA! And I wonder if they are gonna find Brimstone's spirit? If so, what will that outcome lead us to? So many questions!!!
