Sum It Up! So for you readers who love a suspenseful (and I did like the plot) romance with a country edge and some good (straight up/non-kink) lovin'...then this story is for you!

In book 1 of this steamy new contemporary Western romance series by two blockbuster authors, a cowboy and a woman on the run take a stand and fight for love.

Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for a while. But after becoming cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she's made her first mistake. Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.

Zeke doesn't challenge Carlin's terms: cash, dead bolts, and no questions. It is easy to see that she's a woman in trouble. Problem is, he's so blindsided by his attraction to her he can't think straight. Zeke tries to stay all business, no complications-but that game plan is sabotaged the second Carlin gets under his skin. And when her terrifying past follows her to the ranch, Carlin faces a heartbreaking choice: run away from the man she loves, or put him in the crosshairs of a
madman. (Goodreads)

Review:
You all have no idea how much I wanted to LOVE this book. I had requested it once from net galley only to be rejected. Then, a couple of weeks later, I requested it again and was approved...I started it right away!

Well, I love Linda Howard, I love cowboys and I love the Teton Mountain area the story was set. So, why didn't I love the book? First, I found Zeke not my kind of hero/cowboy. He wasn't alpha or dominant enough for my tastes. Also, with an opening line like, "book 1 of this steamy new...” well can you blame me for wanted some steam? Weeks go buy with them co-existing in the same house, no truly uber, alpha male who had gone without sex for over a year would sit back and let a sexy woman cook his food, clean his bedroom and wash his laundry. No, he would let her do all that and do him or more like demand that she do him! Upon reflection, Zeke and Carly's relationship built over time and when they did get together intimately, it was good. Yup, good (which is better than fine but less than smoking). So for you readers who love a suspenseful (and I did like the plot) romance with a country edge and some good (straight up/non-kink) lovin'...then this story is for you!

What I did love about this book...the side characters. I loved every one of the hands and Zeke's cousin: I hope we get her story next! Enjoy!
