Review:
In
the post-apocalyptic world of the late 21st century, biological
warfare has turned mankind into predatory shape-shifters. Sexual interaction is
almost as important a commodity as information. “Jadehouses” are not for the
weak; essentially a reincarnation of brothels and a necessary part of societal
structure.
In
Hunting Temptation, Jordan expertly
balances three protagonists, who all deal in information and are undeniably,
inextricably intertwined. Kienan is a retired government agent who seeks his
cousin, his last living relative, who owns London’s premiere Jadehouse with his
two mates. When Kienan finds his two mates, Quilliam, a businessman, and Gea, a
private investigator, he discovers the importance of love. When he is required
to overcome the obstacles posed not only by forces outside himself, but also
those by his mates, Kienan decides he must risk all. For him, it is win all or
lose all.
Reclaiming Temptation follows an intricate plot
involving Tamryn, the subject of Gea’s investigation in the prior novella.
Gea’s client, Breck, knows Tam is his mate, although she does not. When Breck
discovers where Tam is, he must go to her, despite the fact she is being held
by another man, Stefan. Only then does Breck discover the relationship between
Tam, Stefan, and a child named Sophie.
Jordan
is an established author in erotic romance and this particular combination
exhibits her expertise in the genre. The first novella exhibits her strength in
writing erotica. In the world she has created, sexual contact always involves
animalistic qualities. Yet, even in this world, certain concepts, such as
mating and marriage hold an element of sanctity. In the second novella, Jordan
shows her exceptional ability to plot, drawing readers into a tangled web of
secrecy and intrigue.
Unleashed is a well written pair of
novellas with interesting plot lines and engaging characters, well worth the
time for those interested in explicit erotica romance.
