Sophie is a rare human; she's immune to magic and any magical influence. Sophie's job is beginning to get dangerous and she is assigned a guardian to remove her from sticky situations. When magical creatures are turning up either dead or scared, Sophie can no longer wait for orders and decides she must act to track down the culprit.

Alex, Sophie's love interest, took off and Sophie is left with her dependable guardian, Will. The reader will look forward to the interesting dynamic this situation creates. Will Sophie get over her crush on Alex and move forward with Will? The author handles this love triangle very well and tactfully. The reader will actually believe that Sophie is puzzling through the romance and not making split second decisions. The reader will have to decide which couple to root for.

The plot itself is exciting. There are new clues cropping up all over and literally every character in "under suspicion." The reader will have to think through the clues with Sophie to have a chance at guessing at the culprit(s) in this mystery. This book is recommended to adult readers, particularly those who enjoyed this series before.
