SOME FLAMES ARE ETERNAL

Tasked with protecting humanity from harm, the last thing Ashe Granger was searching for on his mission was his destined mate. Then, a mysterious darkeyed beauty reluctantly offered him shelter. A spark of danger—and a soul-deep recognition—ignited a burning, carnal need…

Since her family’s exile, Juliana Sabin had borne full responsibility for their safety. So when evil struck, she had no choice but to ally herself with the sexy guardian vampire. Now, months later, Ashe is back and tempting Juliana to reveal her darkest secrets…and desires. For the killer stalking the shadows isn’t acting alone—and he won’t rest until his deadly cravings are fulfilled....  (Goodreads)

Fans of Byrd's Primal Instinct series are going to find themselves head over heels for Deadly is the Kiss! Steam, lust, love, loyalty, vampires with bite, all these aspects and more fill the pages of this true page turner.

The Sabin family has knowledge of a dark secret that has caused them to be banished in exile to the Wastelands, a prison better described as hell on earth. For almost a decade they have been locked away, thinking they were at least safe from their enemies until come knocking on their door with deadly intentions. Juliana Sabin, the reluctant matriarch of the family, manages to escape the Wastelands to seek help from none other than the womanizing, infuriating, walking-sex himself, Ashe Granger. When they met before, during a trip Ashe took to the Wastelands to help in the battle against the Casus'(in the Primal Instinct series), they both were so hot with rage wanting to practically rip each other to shreds, or did they really want to rip one another’s clothes off in shreds instead? Both have trust issues that may be impossible to overcome, that is, if they live that long.

Juliana is in a race against time to clear her family’s name once and for all by finding proof of a dark secret that could throw the Deschanel Vampire Court inside out. She must duck and dodge assasination attempts from shapeshifters and vampires alike. Her one ally is Ashe, or is it? Someone else is helping them from the background, someone who wants to help, but does not want to be known. When readers learn the identity of that someone, they will truly be taken by surprise.

This book is indeed a standalone with no promise of there being a series, though I hope there is because the other Granger brother, Gideon, needs a book as well! Deadly is the Kiss is a must read for fans new and old alike. And, it’s an extra special treat for fans of the Primal Instinct series.
